Quintana Roo is a relatively modern state of Mexico, most of its cities dating from the twentieth century. However, there is a special place, a place rich in history and beauty. I’m talking about Tihosuco, a village near Felipe Carrillo Puerto town.

This Mayan community retains many traditions and folklore, the most evident expression is the ancient music called “Maya Pax” which combining clothing, dances, songs and rituals.

In 1847, the Mayan caste revolted against the Spaniards. This battle is known as “The Caste War”, which marked the history, from this emerged the leader rebellion known as Jacinto Pat. Today, every July commemorates this event.
